New Journey 2

New Journey 2
You know how if you want to make it rain, the best thing to do is wash your car? Well, Lori employed that strategy this morning by taking a shower. The minute she got in there her doctor called, so Lori got to conduct the conversation in her bathrobe.

Fortunately, many of you who have already been around this track have counseled us that things . . . will . . . move . . . slowly, especially at a huge facility like UC San Francisco Medical Center, which saves me from trying to crawl through the phone line and kick somebody in the fanny. Things do move slowly, but we were reassured by what Dr. Chapman told us this morning:
· Lori’s PET/CT scan disclosed one additional unhappy lymph node, up near her collar bone where the earlier scan of her tummy didn’t look. The GOOD news about that is that they can get at that one much easier than the abdominal lymph nodes, so are scheduling Lori for a needle biopsy ASAP.
· The other good news is that the PET/CT scan didn’t see any other trouble spots anywhere in her body . . . and that the bad stuff is growing slowly and not at a scary rate.
· (Amazing what qualifies as good news these days.)

Once the tissue from the biopsy is analyzed, then they will decide how to treat it and we will get started with radiation or (more likely) chemo.
In the meantime Lori seems to have dialed in on her meds – how much to take how often. She has less pain, less dizziness/nausea, and more energy although naps are still very attractive and not just for her.
The really good news is all of you. A wonderful warm high tide of love has rolled in here via blog responses, emails, cards, flowers, plants, and food. I am filled with regret that I can’t reply individually to each and every one of your many scores of messages as I would so love to do. This blog is our meager substitute . . . but please know how important your expressions are and how deeply we appreciate them.
Thank you. We love you. God bless you.
Oh, and . . . Kick Cancer’s Ass!
Hugs
Lori and Bill

  4. Dear Bill & Lori
I just read your post and wanted to write and send you big hugs. Lori I’m sorry I hadn’t read about this sooner – that’s my fault for going too fast – and so I’m sending you extra positive energy and love. With your incredible approach to life and outlook I am sure this is but a mere hurdle but nonetheless I do hope you win the fight quickly and overcome it without delay.
    Love & hugs,

  7. Thank you for sharing; What I know for you Lori and Bill is beyond whatever appears to be, visioning of health, wholeness, healing, love, strength, faith, laughter, peace in knowing that and more, all is in Divine order and the doctors are emissaries of that Divine essence. So bask in it all and know you are surrounded in, with, as love: the best is yet to be . Peaceful blessings

  10. Celebrating with you on the good news that the CT/PET scan were, mostly, clear. In that sea of chaos, this is an island of hope. Having lived it, we remain with you as you progress on the journey. Know that you are not alone but surround with good wishes, love, and hope – which are are the essential baggage for this journey.

  15. Billl and Lori, this is definitely encouraging news and if it took a shower to get that phone call, so be it! Sometimes the worst part is waiting, waiting, and waiting …for something to happen. I hope the next step goes quickly so that treatment can begin ASAP. I’m thinking good thoughts and sending you lots of love.

  21. Hi guys,
Thanks for your latest update. All sounds positive considering where it began.
Yes, they move very slowly. What I found was that all the technical stuff sometimes gets in the way of the difficult emotional stuff. So I send a ton of love and concern.
Wish we were closer to you – physically, I mean.
