. . . as in August 18, 2018. The most popular wedding date of this calendar year. Eight is regarded as a fortuitous and lucky number in China, so loads of fiance(e)s of Chinese descent picked the date for their weddings. Others liked the idea of a palindromic date that could be read forwards or backwards. Me, I asked Jane to pick a date that I had a fair chance of remembering. She proposed 8/18/18. Done.
Any of you who have tuned into this blog over the past couple of years must know how lucky and blessed I feel these days. Last Saturday Jane actually looked me in the eye and said, “I do.” As witnesses to that miraculous utterance . . . our children and grandchildren who spent five nights here under the same roof and lent their approval with toasts and hugs and tears and affection for one another, and for us!
We are doing a new thing.
On August 30 we fly off to Australia for a month of honeymoon.
Honeymoon! Getting a wedding license! Marriage! These events make us feel like kids again.
Faith, hope, and love abide, these three. But the greatest of these is . . . love.
